How is interaction design different? In the field of interaction design, the designers are paid to play with abstract ideas and try to make those ideas applicable in real-world situations. Based on experience and credibility, interaction designers are paid well by the companies hiring their services. Interaction design as a discipline borrows ideas from traditional design, psychology and technical disciplines making it a fusion of old and new schools forming a discipline that is different from both its parents. Interaction design can be stated as a blend, rather than a simple additive combination, which gives it unique methods and practices. It approaches the designing area by a new path, so different from that of conservative scientific and engineering disciplines. This discipline is dedicated to defining the behaviour of environments and systems and is therefore concerned with anticipating how the use of products will mediate human relationships and affect human understanding. Interaction design can be considered to be a perspective that approaches the design of products in several different ways, such as; from an understanding of how and why people desire to use them, and it acts as an advocate for the users and their goals. A foresight is essential, so that changes can be done as and when necessary. Therefore interaction designers have to position themselves in a position such that they are up to date with all the new domains, solve problems creatively and most importantly understand the strength and limitations of both humans and technology and strive to make the world better through creative and pragmatic design solutions. Most importantly, interaction design is a developing field. It is advisable to not think of the peak, before a person starts climbing. One should not enter into the world of interaction design with high hopes, of a high salary and a very peaceful environment. To gain experience, a person has to work very hard, constantly putting pressure on him or herself for new ideas. Only after a good amount of credibility has been earned, he or she will become sought after by the giants of the market. | ||||||||||
